Afghanistan beat Papua New Guinea by 7 wickets


Afghanistan made easy win against Papua New Guinea after defeating them by 7 wickets with 29 balls remaining in the on-going t20 world cup 2024 which is played between Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea at Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium.

Afghanistan successfully chased the target of 96 runs given by PNG in the 15.2 overs by losing only 3 wickets. For the victory of Afghanistan, Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 11 runs in 7 balls while another opener Ibrahim Zadran goes for a duck. Then, Gulbadin Naib scored the highest 49 runs in 39 balls including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. He also remains not out and finish the game till the end. While, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi scored 13 runs in 18 balls and 16 runs in 23 balls respectively.

Papua New Guinea bowlers can't make this game even the target is very low. Alei Nao, Semo Kamea and Norman Vanua take equal one wicket for each.

In the first innings, Afghanistan bowlers can make successfully restrict PNG at such a low total of 95 runs which helped them win this game easily. After early dismissal of openers, PNG can't add runs in a board through partnership. Opener Tony Ura and Captain Assad Vala scored 11 runs in 18 balls and 3 runs in 2 balls respectively. Kiplin Doriga scored the highest runs for PNG as he scored 26 runs in 32 balls including 2 boundaries. Alei Nao scored 13 runs in 19 balls with two fours. While, other batsman couldn't score runs in double digits.

Afghanistan bowlers perform really well against PNG as they restrict them in just 95 runs. Fazalhaq Farooqi takes the highest wicket for Afghanistan as he take three wickets by conceding just 16 runs in 4 overs. While, Naveen-ul-Haq takes two wickets and Noor Ahmad take one wicket.

Fazalhaq Farroqi became Player of the Match(POM) due to his excellent bowling performance. He takes three crucial wickets by conceding only 16 runs in 4 overs.
