Bangladesh defeat Sri Lanka by 2 wickets


Bangladesh win against Sri Lanka by 2 wickets with 6 balls remaining in the on-going t20 world cup 2024 which is played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Grand Prairie Stadium.

Bangladesh chased the target of 125 runs given by Sri Lanka in the 19th overs with 6 balls remaining. For the victory of Bangladesh, Liton Das played a important knock of 36 runs in 38 balls including 2 boundaries and 1 sixes. While, both opener become out early. Opener Tanzid Hasan  goes for 3 runs and another opener Soumya Sarkar goes for a duck. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto goes for a 7 runs in 13 deliveries. Towhid Hridoy scored highest run for Bangladesh, he scored 40 runs in 20 balls including 1 boundaries and 4 sixes. While, Mahmudullah scored 16 runs in 13 balls including 1 six. Another batsman cannot score runs in double digit. Although, with the help of brilliant innings of Hridoy, Bangladesh chased this target easily.

For Sri Lanka bowling side, Nuwan Thushara take highest 4 wickets in 4 overs conceding just 18 runs. While, Dhananjaya de Silva, Captain Wanindu Hasaranga, and Matheesha Pathirana take one wicket, two wickets and one wicket respectively. 

In the first innings, Sri Lanka can only manage to score 124 runs with the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. With the great bowling performance of Bangladesh bowlers, Sri Lankan batsman couldn't perform better. Opener Pathum Nissanka scored highest runs for Sri Lanka as he scored 47 runs in just 28 balls with the help of 7 boundaries and 1 sixes. Another opener Kusal Mendis scored 10 runs in 8 balls including 2 boundaries. While, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, and Angelo Mathews scored 21 runs, 19 runs and 16 runs respectively. While, Captain Wanindu Hasaranga goes for a duck. 

Bangladeshi bowlers did their best performance against Sri Lanka that helped them for a victory. Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain both take 3 wickets each by conceding 17 runs in 4 overs and 22 runs in 4 overs. While, Taskin Ahmed and Tanzib Hasan Sakib take equal one wicket for each.

Rishad Hossain became Player of the Match(POM) due to his outstanding bowling performance. He take three crucial wickets by giving only 22 runs in 4 overs.

India entered into the final after beating England by 68 runs in the second semi-final in the on-going t20 world cup 2024 which is played between India and England at Providence Stadium England can't chase the target of 172 runs given by India where they were become all out at just 103 runs in 16.4 overs.
